Sauti said: When he had heard the words of the snakes, Gāruḍa told his mother, "I am going to get the amṛtā. But I wish to eat something. Tell me what."
सौति ने कहा: जब गरुड़ ने साँपों की बातें सुनीं, तो उसने अपनी माँ से कहा, "मैं अमृत लेने जा रहा हूँ। लेकिन मैं कुछ खाना चाहता हूँ। मुझे बताओ क्या।"
Vinatā replied: "The niṣāda-s have their excellent home in a remote part of the ocean. Eat thousands of niṣāda-s and bring back the amṛtā.
विनता ने उत्तर दिया: "समुद्र के सुदूर भाग में निषादों का उत्कृष्ट निवास है। हजारों निषादों को खाओ और अमृत वापस ले आओ।"

न तु ते ब्राह्मणं हन्तुं कार्या बुद्धिः कथंचन अवध्यः सर्वभूतानां ब्राह्मणो ह्यनलोपमः
But never set your mind on killing a Brāhmaṇa. Among all living beings, a Brāhmaṇa is like fire and is never to be killed.
लेकिन कभी भी ब्राह्मण की हत्या करने का मन मत बनाओ। सभी जीवित प्राणियों में, ब्राह्मण अग्नि के समान है और उसे कभी नहीं मारा जाना चाहिए।
When he is angered, a Brāhmaṇa is like fire, the sun, poison or a sharp weapon. Among all beings, he is the one who obtains the first share at a sacrifice, is supreme among the vārṇa-s and is a father and preceptor."
क्रोधित होने पर ब्राह्मण अग्नि, सूर्य, विष या तेज हथियार के समान होता है। सभी प्राणियों में, वह यज्ञ में प्रथम भाग पाने वाला, वर्णों में सर्वोच्च और पिता तथा गुरु है।"
Gāruḍa said: "O mother! I am asking you. What are the auspicious signs through which I will recognize a Brāhmaṇa? You should tell me."
गरुड़ ने कहा: "हे माँ! मैं तुमसे पूछ रहा हूँ। वे कौन से शुभ लक्षण हैं जिनके माध्यम से मैं एक ब्राह्मण को पहचान लूँगा? तुम्हें मुझे बताना चाहिए।"
Vinatā replied: "O son! If a man goes down your throat torturing you like a swallowed fish hook or burning it like hot coal, know him to be a bull among Brāhmana-s."
विनता ने उत्तर दिया: "हे पुत्र! यदि कोई मनुष्य निगली हुई मछली के काँटे की भाँति तुम्हें पीड़ा पहुँचाता हुआ या गर्म कोयले की भाँति जलाता हुआ तुम्हारे गले में उतर जाए, तो जान लो कि वह ब्राह्मणों में एक बैल है।"
Sauti said: Out of the great love she bore for her son, Vinatā again repeated the words. Vinatā knew her son's valour to be unparalleled. But she nevertheless pronounced a blessing on him."
सौति ने कहा: अपने बेटे के प्रति अत्यधिक प्रेम के कारण विनता ने फिर से ये शब्द दोहराए। विनता जानती थी कि उसके पुत्र की वीरता अद्वितीय है। लेकिन फिर भी उसने उसे आशीर्वाद दिया।"

पक्षौ ते मारुतः पातु चन्द्रः पृष्ठं तु पुत्रक शिरस्तु पातु ते वह्निर्भास्करः सर्वमेव तु
Let the Marut-s protect your wings. O son! Let the moon protect your back. Let the fire protect your head. Let the sun protect all your body.
मरुतों को अपने पंखों की रक्षा करने दो। हे वत्स चंद्रमा को अपनी पीठ की रक्षा करने दें. अग्नि को अपने सिर की रक्षा करने दो। सूर्य को आपके पूरे शरीर की रक्षा करने दें।

अहं च ते सदा पुत्र शान्तिस्वस्तिपरायणा अरिष्टं व्रज पन्थानं वत्स कार्यार्थसिद्धये
O son! I shall always be engaged in ceremonies that bring you peace and welfare. O son! Go in safety and accomplish your objective."
हे वत्स मैं सदैव ऐसे समारोहों में संलग्न रहूँगा जो आपको शांति और कल्याण प्रदान करें। हे वत्स सुरक्षित जाओ और अपना उद्देश्य पूरा करो।"

ततः स मातुर्वचनं निशम्य; वितत्य पक्षौ नभ उत्पपात ततो निषादान्बलवानुपागम;द्बुभुक्षितः काल इवान्तको महान्
Having heard his mother's words, the bird then stretched his wings and flew up into the sky. The powerful one soon descended hungrily on the niṣāda-s, like Yāma himself.
अपनी माँ की बातें सुनकर पक्षी ने फिर अपने पंख फैलाए और आकाश में उड़ गया। शक्तिशाली व्यक्ति जल्द ही यम की तरह, निषाद-एस पर भूख से उतर आया।

स तान्निषादानुपसंहरंस्तदा; रजः समुद्धूय नभःस्पृशं महत् समुद्रकुक्षौ च विशोषयन्पयः; समीपगान्भूमिधरान्विचालयन्
Determined to destroy the niṣāda-s, he raised a great storm of dust that covered up the sky. This dried up the water in the ocean and shook the mountains that grew around.
उन्होंने निषादों को नष्ट करने का निश्चय करके धूल का एक बड़ा तूफ़ान उठाया जिसने आकाश को ढक दिया। इससे समुद्र का पानी सूख गया और आसपास उगे पहाड़ हिल गए।
The king of birds opened his gigantic mouth and stopped the route of the niṣāda-s. In great alarm, the niṣāda-s also entered the mouth of the eater of snakes.
पक्षियों के राजा ने अपना विशाल मुँह खोला और निषादों का मार्ग रोक दिया। बड़े भय से निषाद भी साँपों को खाने वाले के मुँह में घुस गये।
Like frightened birds in a forest that rise in thousands into the sky when there is a great storm, the niṣāda-s were blinded by the dust and in thousands entered the wide open mouth of the giant eater of snakes.
जैसे किसी जंगल में भयंकर तूफ़ान आने पर भयभीत पक्षी हजारों की संख्या में आकाश में उड़ जाते हैं, वैसे ही धूल से निषाद अंधे हो गए और हजारों की संख्या में सांपों के विशाल भक्षक के खुले हुए मुंह में प्रवेश कर गए।
Then the hungry bird, with great strength and swift speed, the scorcher of his enemies, closed his mouth. The traveller in the sky killed many niṣāda-s, who depend on diverse fish for a living.
तब बड़े बल और तीव्र वेग वाले, शत्रुओं को झुलसाने वाले, भूखे पक्षी ने अपना मुँह बंद कर लिया। आकाश में यात्री ने कई निशादों को मार डाला, जो जीवनयापन के लिए विविध मछलियों पर निर्भर थे।
